FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions

  • Shipping and Delivery? I will ship using whatever your preference is. Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS, and AAA Cooper are my most used and trusted forms of shipment. I will deliver pieces too. It depends on the value of the piece and the distance that I would have to travel on what the cost would be. Sometimes if I have to go to a certain place anyways for a show or such, the delivery would be free.

  • Payment? I accept all forms of payment. I run cards at shows using a Square and the online payments would be through Paypal. On all custom orders or to hold an item I require 50 percent down. For large furniture it is much appreciated to pay me cash or check, I may be able to work with you on price if that is the case.

  • Is everything handmade? Yes, I make everything by hand in my shop near Whitsett, Tx. My dad helps me sand on some of the pieces occasionally.

  • What species of wood do I work with? I use primarily Mesquite, Pecan, and reclaimed barn wood. I can also get many other domestic and exotic woods.

  • Do I do custom work? Yes, I will work with you to create a piece that fits your personal style and budget. Depending on the complexity of the piece, please allow anywhere from two weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks to complete a project.

  • Do I make cabinets? No, I do not do production scale cabinets. I would make furniture with cabinets doors, etc.. in a certain workpiece.

  • What do I finish my pieces with? On my furniture and other large pieces, I use a combination of 1/3 Tung Oil, 1/3 Boiled Linseed Oil, 1/3 Mineral Spirits. On all of my other small pieces including bowls, serving boards, candle holders, etc… I use a food grade/safe Walnut oil. On all of my pieces I obtain such a smooth finish by sanding to 600 grit, which is a very fine sandpaper.

  • What do I need to do for future care of wood/cleaning? The finish that I apply will last forever. To clean the dust off you can use a microfiber towel and apply small amounts of beeswax or lemon oil for best results.

  • Do I have a sawmill and a drying system? I have an Alaskan chainsaw mill that will cut up to 36 inches in diameter. I am working towards buying a band sawmill that will run more efficient and a higher quality cut. I do not currently have a kiln-drying system, the products that I personally cut are air dried in an insulated barn with fans. The wood that I do not cut with my mill, I have cut by a friend that has a large scale mill and kiln-drying system. There is less than ten percent total moisture in the wood once it is dried, which will keep it from warping, cupping, or cracking.

  • Do I harvest my own wood? Yes all of the Mesquite and Pecan that I have is harvested by me. I have five Stihl chainsaws that I use to accomplish this. If you are in my surrounding area and you have a tree that you want to let go of, please contact me. I pay a very fair price for all trees that I harvest. If it is a rare tree, the more money on your end.
